Description
Fabulous large punch ladle hallmarked for "GAB * NS". Posing origin of marks on a group silver hallmark identification site, current conventional wisdom is this is Scandanavian. I'm in the Austrian / Eastern European or American Coin silver camp. This has been tested as a pure silver alloy (100% guarantee the "NS" here does NOT stand for Nickle Silver). So, this will be 80% - 92.5% pure silver to other metals.
Stylistically, this is from the very early 1800's.
Dimensions: 18" long x 4.75" wide. The bowl is 1.25" Deep. Wood handle portion is 11" Long.
Silver weight: not possible to weigh due to integral wood handle. Total weight is 152 ounces.
Condition:
Excellent giftable condition. Patina consistent with use and age. No pings, dings, bends, bashes, repairs, monograms, monogram removals or other mentionable issues.
Always happy to pass through discounts on combined shipping. Please ask me for specific quote if you feel shipping cost is too high. On certain large / heavy packages, I see EBAY's calculator grossly overcalculates actual shipping costs. Please note I usually provide at least 2, if not usually 4, shipping options. Please check to validate which option is best for you.
I only charge actual postage, and always use recycled packing materials.
Note some photos appear redundant because I take photos from all possible angles. On symmetrical items, these photos may appear redundant when there are no distinguishing differences or condition issues between side views.
I gladly accept returns, but please note I do not pay return postage unless there was a significant error in my description. The item listed is being sold as is, as pictured and as described to the best of my knowledge. If you have a question or an assumption on an item prior to purchase, please ask. I much prefer to take the time on the front end to make sure you will be satisfied with your purchase.
Remember, when buying vintage expect imperfections as these items have a history and have been in the possession of others. I try to list EVERY flaw which would be commented on something in an antique or vintage condition – this does not mean all imperfections resulting from normal wear & use require comment. My goal is to have no rude surprises upon receipt.
