The revenue cutter Alert was used on the coasts of the United States to prosecute smugglers. For this reason, it was equipped with a large sail area and a wedge-shaped deep keel to be able to sail upwind faster and higher. Amidships on deck, the alert is equipped with a rotatable carronade with all accessories, which is a very nice historical insight into the former work on board.
The Alert kit includes all necessary, high-quality materials. This wooden ship model kit is relatively simple in its construction, but contains a lot of interesting details, so that one can make a real museum piece. This is a large scale kit that lends itself well to detailing by experienced ship modelers, but also easy construction which is good for beginning ship modelers as well. Building instructions are designed in great detail. Sails are not included.
