    Description

Presented is a fine continental European silver convertible five light candelabra. This piece dates to around 1860-1880, and is probably German, though we aren't sure. The candelabra is done in an interesting angular-armed form, with a paneled shaft and stepped base. The candelabra can be converted to a single candlestick, making this a versatile decor piece. The bobeches or wax drips on all five of the top socles remove, for ease of cleaning. The base is heavily weighted for stability. The underside of the base has green felt to protect scratchable surfaces.
This piece is in good overall condition. There are some minor solder repairs around the main socle, which are very hard to notice. There are no other issues whatsoever.
This piece is stamped 750 on the side of the base, for the purity of the silver. Next to the purity stamp is the letter V, possibly a maker's mark. The bobeches/wax drips as well as the socle insert of the removable arms are all stamped 750.
The candelabra stands about 17 1/2 inches tall, including the arms. The arms have a span of about 9 1/4 inches. Without the arms, used as a single light candlestick, the height is about 11 inches.
The total weight of the candelabra is 1954 grams. The weight of just the top portion with all the arms is 515 grams, the total of which is silver. We estimate that the weighted single candlestick portion contains 300-400 grams of silver.
