Historical note
USS Osage is a Neosho-class wheeled monitor named after the Indian tribe. She came into commission in 1863. The ship fought at the Mississippi as part of rear admiral Porter’s squadron.  She participated in the Red River Campaign, namely in the capture of Fort De Russy. In 1865, she formed a part of the blockade detachment of the Western Bay to attack Mobile, Alabama. During the battle at Spanish Fort to the east of Mobile, the ship hit a mine, what caused her sinking.   Later, she was raised and sold for scrap.
