"Lenin" - an atomic icebreaker, the world's first surface ship with a nuclear power plant.
An icebreaker was built in the Soviet Union, primarily to serve the Northern Sea Route.
Launched on December 5, 1957. A nuclear power plant was mounted in 1958-1959. On August 6, 1959, a nuclear reactor was physically launched.
During the construction and testing, many delegations and representatives from different countries and countries of the world visited the nuclear powered ship, including the British Prime Minister Harold Macmillan, US Vice President Richard Nixon, and Chinese ministers.
The icebreaker "Lenin" worked for 30 years and in 1989 it was decommissioned and put into eternal parking in Murmansk. Now there is a museum on the icebreaker.
