ITEM DESCRIPTION:
This PreXion Excelsior 3D CBCT Scanner unit came to us by way of an insurance claim. Our shop typically repairs and resells high-end digital and film camera equipment, so while the unit was a bit "out of our wheelhouse," we have skilled technicians who love to repair just about anything, and we jumped at the chance to resurrect this piece of high-tech dental scanning equipment. The damage was related to its frame/mechanics, not its electronics/imaging components as explained below.
This PreXion Excelsior CBCT Scanner was originally purchased/installed in 2019. A technician at the office where it was located accidentally left a stool under the blue grab bars (located below the unit's chin rest arm) while adjusting the height of the unit to a lower position. In the process of lowering the unit, the grab bars came in contact with the stool which resulted in bending the frame/arm to which the chin rest is connected. The owner of the unit had very good insurance coverage and was able to get the entire system replaced under his policy. PreXion totaled the unit and replaced it with a new system (right down to the Dell tower computer and monitor). PreXion will no longer provide support/license for this unit.
We had the technician who installed the replacement PreXion Excelsior system dismantle this unit and pack everything into the boxes in which the replacement PreXion scanner was shipped. The damaged unit was then shipped to our shop, and our technician determined what part of the unit's frame was bent. He was able to straighten and re-align the arm of the unit to which the chin rest is attached. As you will see in the video below, the unit powers on, and the upper section of the scanner can be raised and lowered via the touchscreen on the side of the unit. We are not able to do any testing beyond what is shown in the video. The unit is being offered as a parts unit in As Is condition at a fraction of its ,000 replacement cost (and we are willing to listen to reasonable offers). If you are familiar with this type of dental scanning equipment, this could be a great opportunity to get a great deal on a high-end CBCT scanner. The idea buyer would be a shop that deals in used dental equipment who could do the final testing and service prior to selling the unit to one of their price-sensitive customers. The scanner will be dismantled for shipment and packed/secured into the same boxes as a brand new PreXion 3D Excelsior scanner. The cart to which we mounted the scanner in our shop will not be included. Once dismantled and its parts secured in their shipping boxes, the boxes will be secured to pallets and shipped via freight carrier. Please contact us to receive a shipping quote.
