Rare Vintage Owens-Illinois Glass Company Gallon Glass Jar.  This was in my aunt's estate.  I did a little research to see if i could pinpoint the date of manufacture.  Due to the logo and numbers on the bottom of the jar and the Duraglas signature on the heel, this jar was probably manufactured as early as 1939 at the Alton, Illinois plant.   The diamond-oval logo with the "I" in the middle was changed in 1954.  The #9 indicates the year it was made.   Since it isn't followed by a period,  that's a good indication it was made in 1939.   The 40's put a period after the number and they didn't use the diamond-oval logo after 1954.
