Historical note
In 1914 at the Nizhniy Novgorod shipbuilding yard "Nizhegorodskiy teplohod" such oil tankers as "Sheksna" and "Neva" were built. They were of "river-sea" kind and were able to pass through the locks of Mariinskiy water system and capable for sailing in the Baltic Sea. At the same time the ships were profit-proved and easy to operate. In December 1916 both ships were mobilized to the Baltic Fleet and renamed to "Elena" and "Nina" accordingly and were used for fueling of new oil torpedo-boat destroyers of "Novik" kind. In 1922 from the Baltic Fleet both ships were transferred to North-Western enclosing. "Sheksna" in 1921 was renamed to "V.S. Borisov". The ships worked reliably in the North-Western water basin till the Great Patriotic War. In the summer 1943 they were written off and scrapped.
