Antique Unique Set Silver Demitasse & Coffee Spoons Art Nouveau Cranes/Birds Twisted Handles - Mark: LB
These remarkably designed spoons each have two Cranes that form the Handle and unusual Terminal.
Looking closely, I have found no two spoon designs are precisely alike.
There are subtle differences in the definition of wings; many flowers vary from one another; and most noticeable are the variations in appearance where the Stems meet the Handles.
I acquired these spoons nearly a decade ago and have been continually researching them.
I have looked through thousands of photos from around the world and have never found this delicate Crane pattern, or this inverted Terminal/Tip style.
The variations mentioned above make me wonder if these were pre-manufacturing pieces – test patterns considered for production but never approved and produced.
I’ve also not found the LB mark that is on the reverse side of each Handle.
There is no silver content mark; silver content unknown.
Date of Manufacture and Country of Origin Unknown.
There is a total of 11 spoons here.
(If you can identify these spoons or have a better idea of their age and/or origin, please enlighten me.
My curiosity has not waned, only my time for researching.)
I gently cloth-polished one spoon to enhance the design for the photographs, and to give you an idea how the spoons would look when polished.
I have never cleaned the other 10 spoons.
