Vintage Tiffin Franciscan Melrose Killarney Gold Encrusted Salad Plates Set of 6

Set of 6 vintage Tiffin Franciscan Melrose Killarney Green, gold plated Salad Plates. These lovely embossed and gold leafed emerald green glass plates measure 8 1/8" in diameter and stand 5/8" high off the table. These Killarney green pieces were only produced in 1948 - 1960 and included plates, glasses, decor items in the rich green color with sand (blasted) carved decorations which were embellished with 22K gold leaf. This is a long discontinued pattern from US Glass owned Tiffin and only few plates remain available on the market as this was not a high volume pattern and Tiffin moved into more casual tableware in the 60s and 70s and the furnaces were shuttered in 1980. All the plates in this set are in good condition with no chips or cracks, 5 of the plates show some wear on the gold leaf outer rim - see photos for details - but when combined in a table setting remain striking. A lovely set paired with a complementary dinner setting or used alone to highlight a special course or for lunch.
