2 Car set includes CSX reporting numbers CSXT 630543 and CSXT 630576. The models have been equipped with Full Throttle trucks with metal wheel sets and Hay Brothers loads. CSX inherited scads of Twin Hoppers from all it's mergers and acquisitions, scrapping the ratty ones and repainting the worthy carcasses, re-servicing them for the myriad valuable jobs along it's vast trackage! These models are perfect for small business spurs, or MoW work, as well as workhorses for short lines in almost all the States from North to South in the Eastern USA! Equipped them with sand and gravel loads.

The idea behind the use of light weight, corrosion resistant aluminum for freight cars, especially coalers, was based on strength to weight ratios; being able to carry a greater payload, thus cutting the initial cost faster, fuel savings, increased durability, improved aerodynamics, and the elimination of painting! A No-Brainer!
The larger railroads experimented and developed aluminum hoppers in the 1930's but after WWII toward the 21st century, as the steel hopper fleets began to wear thin, newer alloys and construction prompted the rise of high-side aluminum gondolas which could be dumped by large revolving mechanisms, thus eliminating gravity-fed hopper doors. Because of it's excellent recyclability, saving 95% of both energy and emissions compared to metals made from ore, aluminum claims to be "climate neutral" which no other metal can say.
The Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroad (CBQ) aka: the Burlington, operated on extensive trackage through the mid-west, out to Wyoming, Colorado and deep into Texas. It's formidable mountain routes with subsidiaries including Colorado and Southern Rwy., Ft. Worth and Denver Rwy. and Burlington-Rock Island Railroad prompted the slogan, "Everywhere West!"
