In the late 1990s,
Dr. Bob Olson
started to produce
Z
Scale
freight cars under the name
"PENNZEE."
I became a distributor and sold many models for him.  Here is one of his early reefers, marked for
the
WILSON Co.
It is essentially,
NEW
, never run, and been tucked away for these last 20 years!
Originally, a New York slaughterhouse (
S&S
), the giant meatpacker,
WILSON & Co.
, was purchased and revived by
Thomas E. Wilson
in
1916
and it's headquarters moved to
Chicago's Union Stock Yard
where it joined
ARMOUR
and
SWIFT
at the top of the American meat industry.  This is also the
WILSON
famous for it's sporting goods business.  By the middle of the
1960s
, the company grossed over
0 million
in annual sales and employed about
17,000
people in the United States.  In
1967
,
WILSON
was purchased by
Jim Ling
of the
LTV conglomerate
, and its executive offices were transferred from
Chicago
to,
Dallas,
Texas
.
